BeerMuda Triangle Debut! Watch the New TV Show about Montana Beer and Adventure

BeerMuda Triangle aired on KPAX July 30 at 4 p.m. and the cast and crew had a great time at a viewing party at The Dram Shop.

This new venture, created by Kelley Bigelow at Brand Edge Marketing and produced by Gravity Media Productions, brings Montana’s diverse and exciting craft beer scene to life while adding a good dose of unique adventures. I am fortunate to co-host with the talented Laurie Rowley.

The premise of this half-hour show is to create a triangle of beer and adventure, visiting three different breweries and doing three different activities along the way.

Episode 1 started in Philipsburg, touring both of the Philipsburg Brewing Company breweries, having lunch at the Sunshine Station, and mining for sapphires at Gem Mountain. Then the cast went up and over Skalkaho Pass, with a stop at the waterfall, before driving up the Bitterroot Valley for some volleyball and beers at Lolo Peak Brewing Co. After that we tried our hands (and feet) at river surfing at Brennan’s Wave in Missoula before catching up with our friend, Kate Bernot, beer editor at DRAFT magazine, at Kettlehouse Brewing Company (Northside).

The next planned episode will highlight Oktoberfest celebrations, as well as Montana’s newest brewery, Smelter City Brewing in Anaconda. So stay tuned!

If you missed the show, no worries, you can view it right here via YouTube.

Future air dates for Episode 1:
  • Helena KXLH 4pm August 6, 2017
  • Butte/Bozeman KTVM 4pm August 20, 2017
BeerMuda Triangle would not be possible without the support of its sponsors: First Montana Bank, Lithia Ford of Missoula, Rangitsch Brothers LLC, Gem Mountain, and Sunshine Station. Website design by Design Missoula.

We Have a #MslaBrewFest Twitter Winner...

On Saturday February 11, beer bloggers from Growler Fills and Montana Beer Finder organized a "Tweet What You Drink" campaign with the Missoula Downtown Association, which ran during the Missoula Winter Brew Fest. We received 90 tweets from nearly 30 different "tweeters" and after careful consideration we chose  @PNTBLDan's above picture/tweet as the winner of the $25 MDA gift card. Dan snapped a shot of the Blacksmith Brewing Co. table when grabbing a taste of their Zythos IPA. Congrats Dan H.!

We also tallied the most-tweeted beer and most-tweeted brewery. The most-tweeted beer at the event was Big Sky Brewing's All Souls Dark Trippel. The most-tweeted brewery was Kettlehouse Brewing Company (which also sponsored the Missoula Winter Brewfest).

We do want to draw attention to two other tweets that caught our bloggers' attention:

From @letitflow: "I took first shift... wife is now imbibing #MslaBrewFest - that's how missoula parents roll"

From @BenandRobot: "Is the Pulaski Porter from Blacksmith Brewery in honor of Casmir or Ed? Delicious either way. #MslaBrewFest #uselessdebates"

To see all the tweets from the event, check out #MslaBrewFest on Twitter.

Missoula #5 in Top 10 U.S. Beer Cities

Livability, a website dedicated to finding America's most "livable" cities, just named Missoula, Montana, as the 5th best "Beer City". Naming specifically Missoula's Bayern Brewery, Kettlehouse Brewing Company and Big Sky Brewing, Missoula fared a bit better than Boise and Chattanooga, but for some reason towns like Boulder and Fort Collins failed to even make the list.

Guess Missoula just got cooler in someone's book. We do love our beer though!
